The Illustrated Pianist combines science-fiction and adaptive visual installation in an imaginative concert of piano music, inspired by the timeless book The Illustrated Man.

Curated by Nicole Brancato, this multimedia event honored the 2020 centenary of iconic American science-fiction author Ray Bradbury and the seventieth anniversary of his celebrated story collection in 2021.

The Illustrated Pianst - a piano concert for the eyes and ears

The project commissioned 22 new piano works and 2 visual installations - so far. Featured in The New Yorker, the New York City premiere boasted an illustrious cohort of pianists —Geoffrey Burleson, Anthony de Mare, Kathleen Supové, Jed Distler, Sarah Dutcher, Thomas Feng, Mariel Mayz, Adam Tendler, and Nicole Brancato herself — with visual installation by Eve Nova.

The San Francisco, CA concert garnered attention in The San Francisco Chronicle, The San Francisco Classical Voice, and NPR. Composer/performers included Nicholas Pavkovic, Monica Chew, Dee Spencer, Jerry Kuderna, and Keisuke Nakagoshi, with visual installation by Cory Todd.
